Job Description

The Position


Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) play a critical role in engaging with Scientific Leaders (SLs) and Key Decision Makers (KDMs) to facilitate non-promotional, peer-to-peer scientific and medical exchanges. They provide valuable insights and disseminate accurate, up-to-date medical information that supports the therapeutic and strategic goals of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Engagement with External Leaders

  • Build and maintain peer-to-peer, non-promotional relationships with SLs and KDMs, sharing medical and scientific knowledge within the framework of applicable laws, regulations, and industry codes.
  • Gather deep insights into disease areas, therapeutic needs, data gaps, and challenges within the assigned geography to inform strategy.
  • Represent Medical Affairs at local and regional non-promotional medical events (e.g., congresses, symposia), supporting pre-event coordination and post-event scientific summaries.
  • Respond to unsolicited requests for medical, scientific, pipeline, or product-related information, using approved scientific resources.
  • Facilitate connections between SLs/KDMs and appropriate company resources for information on clinical trials, grants, or outcomes research.
  • Organize and participate in scientific engagement activities such as hospital lectures, journal clubs, advisory boards, and expert input forums, serving as a presenter when required.
  • Share publicly available areas of interest with SLs and provide guidance to access further resources.
  • Provide scientific support for Health Technology Assessments (HTAs) and formulary decisions, adhering to principles of scientific exchange.

Internal Support

  • Take part in development of country Medical Affairs Plans and execute it in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with clinical trial teams to identify potential investigators for sponsored studies.
  • Deliver actionable insights on scientific gaps, new ideas, and trends from external engagements to inform company strategies and development programs.
  • Provide on-label or disease-related scientific training to commercial colleagues upon request and where permissible.
  • Support patient access programs by offering medical and scientific expertise.
  • Undertake additional projects as assigned by leadership.

Key Competencies

  • Strong foundation in scientific knowledge specific to assigned therapeutic areas.
  • Deep understanding of clinical trial methodology, implementation, and data interpretation.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage in peer-to-peer scientific exchange, ensuring credibility and trust.
  • Proficiency in gathering and sharing insights to support scientific engagement and organizational needs.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to thrive in team environments.
  • Effective multitasking and time management skills, especially under pressure.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or a related scientific field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of pharmaceutical experience as an MSL.
  • Prior experience as an MSL manager is desirable.
  • Expertise in Women’s Health therapeutic areas is a strong advantage.
  • Proven ability to conduct scientific exchange and support research initiatives.
  • Fluent in English, with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, and collaboration abilities.
