Job Description

The Position

Will support the development of calculation tools for instrument calibration (temperature, pressure, flow, level) to improve accuracy, repeatability, and traceability within industrial applications. The role includes designing calculation logic, organizing calibration data, validating results, and preparing technical documentation aligned with calibration best practices and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate calibration-related calculations, including error, offset, drift, linearity, hysteresis, repeatability, and reproducibility.

  • Build and verify calibration curves (linear, segmented, polynomial, or lookup-based).

  • Ensure traceability of calculation logic to reference standards and documented assumptions.

  • Structure and manage calibration data; create export formats (CSV/XLSX/JSON) for reporting and audits.

  • Prepare calibration report templates, supporting documents, and simple SOPs.

  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians during field/lab trials and refine tool performance.

  • Implement simple automation or batch‑calculation features where applicable.

  • Conduct quality checks, including edge-case handling, sanity checks, and version control.

Required Education, Experience and Skills

  • Final-year student or recent graduate in relevant engineering/science fields (see priority list below).

  • Strong understanding of sensors and signal fundamentals: RTD, thermocouple, pressure, 4–20 mA, analog/digital signals.

  • Able to explain:

    • Calibration curve basics

    • Traceability

    • Error & uncertainty (basic concept)

    • Repeatability vs reproducibility

  • Good analytical and numerical skills using Excel (formulas, charts) or Python/Matlab/R.

  • Solid technical documentation skills, including structured reports and assumption logs.

  • High accuracy and attention to detail; consistent with quality & compliance mindset.

Preferred Educational Background (Priority Tiering)

Tier 1 – Highly Preferred (Strongest Match)

Electrical Engineering / Instrumentation / Mechatronics
→ Strong foundation in sensors & signals; shortest learning curve for calibration tools.

Tier 2 – Very Suitable

Engineering Physics
→ Strong in metrology, measurement systems, statistics, and uncertainty concepts.

Tier 3 – Contextual Fit

Mechanical Engineering
→ Suitable when involving mechanical/pressure/dimensional instruments; may need support in electronics.

Tier 4 – Conditional

Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry / Pharmacy
→ Good for laboratory instruments (HPLC, UV‑Vis, pH, balance) and strong SOP compliance; less exposure to hardware/sensor principles.

Technical Skills (Preferred)

  • Instrumentation: RTD/Thermocouple, pressure transmitters & gauges, flow meters (DP, magnetic, vortex), level transmitters.

  • Signal & Measurement: 4–20 mA loops, 0–10 V analog, digital I/O, cold junction compensation, loop checking.

  • Calibration Knowledge:

    • As-found/as-left

    • Zero/span adjustment

    • Linearity verification

    • Hysteresis evaluation

    • Drift analysis

  • Data & Statistics: mean/stdev, basic MSA, residual analysis, outlier checking.

  • Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets

  • Ability to prepare calibration reports, templates, and structured documentation.

  • Bonus: Exposure to ISO/IEC 17025 principles, basic uncertainty budgeting, or automation scripts.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving.

  • Clear communication skills (technical and non‑technical).

  • Organized with strong data discipline and version control habits.

  • Proactive, curious, and eager to learn new instrumentation concepts.

  • Able to collaborate with engineers, technicians, and lab teams.

Work Arrangement

  • Status: Internship

  • Location: On-site

  • Schedule: Regular working hours

** Screening Task (2 Hours) during the recruitment process

Candidate will receive a Mini-test prior to the interview.
